Process for new products management

The challenge was to introduce a new process for new product management into a fish processing operation (second largest in the World) with a unionized workforce and obtain the expected benefits for the business.

The objective set for the team activity was to produce a workable implementation plan for the process.

The planning team contained both managementand union representatives. During the process, the facilitated dialogue allowed all members of the team to work through the issues in a collaborative way and they produced a balanced implementation plan that everyone could support.

The results for the company were:

  • smooth implementation of the new process;
  • winning a national award for the Best New Food Product (within six months of process implementation);
  • improved overall profitability of the business.
